Who’s #1 – WHO DAT!!
November 4th, 2009 | by Mark Hooper |Who’s the best team in the NFL? WHO-DAT sucka!
Ok, you can make a case that the Colts deserve some consideration, but lets take a look at them vs. us. Very similar offenses, but give the edge to our RBs and WRs. QB? Well, overall I’d say Manning was the best around, but I ain’t trading. Clark vs. Shockey? Ok, you got me there. Clark is better.
What about those defenses? No question padnah, the Saints are the best. Who would win in a game played between us? I dunno….guess whoever had the game at home, but no matter what, I would not bet against the Saints. What about those Cowboys? They are rolling lately, but Romo has proven he can’t hang in critical games, and he’s always about one bad play from going in the tank. Eagles? C’mon get real…they have some talent, but this team is up and down..they are just up right now.
Denver? LOL. What a joke, the Ravens showed they were just a pretendah’. If you read my last blog, I said Denver wouldn’t make it out of Baltimore unscathed.
So it’s the Saints baby!! 16-0 woo woo!! Ok, hold onto the reins a little. This NFL game is a week-to-week deal, and just about any team can beat another given the right circumstances. Nobody has done it to the Saints yet, but it will happen, count on it.
If you are a guy (or gal) that likes to look ahead, it’s easy to say we will be 12-0 when the Patriots roll into town on November 30th. With just Carolina, St Louis and Tampa in the way, what’s the problem? Easy roll, rack up em’.
But why do I look at the lowly 3-4 Panthers and get the heavie-jeavies? Maybe I recall a few years back when the Cowboys were rolling along and the panthers knocked them on their keister on one of those rare days when Delhomme and Smith were unstoppable. With that running game, anything can happen.
So let me go on record and say this will be a rough game. The Panthers had Kurt Warner shelled and shocked all day, sacking him twice and forcing 5 interceptions. Brees isn’t Warner, but I am worried. The laughable panthers have now won three of their last four games, and in the last five games nobody has scored more than 21 points. And that did include the high-powered Cowboys and Cardinals. They are playing better football, and it’s too easy for the saints to overlook these guys, rival or not.
I think this will be a low-scoring affair, with the healthy Panthers slowing the Brees train, and managing the clock with their powerful running game. This is a game the Saints could lose if everything falls wrong, although I expect them to win it 24-17.
